Legendary Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling announced his retirement at the end of the season last month. With May 28th set to be his final farewell after 25 years in the role, attention will now turn to who will replace the iconic host going forward.
We’ve taken a look at the Betfred markets to find out who the frontrunners are for the most famous punditry gig in football.
Match of the Day 2 host Mark Chapman is one of the most respected football TV hosts currently plying their trade. Chapman has become a prominent figure on Sky Sports’ coverage this season, particularly in the Carabao Cup.
Nobody in the world has more experience as Jeff Stelling’s understudy than Julian Warren. Warren has been a regular fixture in the Soccer Special hotseat over the years, often taking the reins when Stelling is away. Need a risk-free, safe pair of hands? Jules is your man.
Another familiar face with more than enough experience to slot into Stelling’s shoes with minimal fuss. Super Sunday and Monday Night Football host Dave Jones is a Sky Sports stalwart but given his already sizable roles with the broadcaster, is he likely to add even more coverage to his already hectic schedule?
Since hanging up her boots in 2017, ex-Arsenal and Lionesses star Alex Scott has been a consistently excellent pundit. Her work at the BBC saw her become the broadcaster’s first female pundit at a World Cup, and she’s also no stranger to Sky Sports, currently working alongside Chris Kamara on Goals On Sunday.
Unquestionably one of the best sports journalists in the country, Laura Woods is one of the most prevalent faces on our TV screens these days. Woods has previously worked for Sky Sports, but is better known for her work on talkSPORT and DAZN. She’s incredibly busy, so perhaps even more work on top of her already tall workload is unlikely.
